We believe we are called to demonstrate the love and power of the Good News of Jesus Christ through the guidance and empowerment of the Holy Spirit. At Battersea Chapel we are a community Church and we believe it's our mission to find ways to serve our community. We believe we should bring God's influence into difficult issues and His support to people who are affected by those issues. We seek to witness the love of God to all, as revealed in His Son, Jesus.
Battersea Chapel has been a place of Christian worship since 1672. On 18th June 1797 we became Battersea Chapel Baptist Church. The present multi-purpose building was opened in 1973 and was the third building to be occupied by Battersea Chapel. We are a community fellowship with diverse cultures and ages, warmly welcoming all who visit us.
We aim to be a people who worship God with our whole lives 24—7—365 and a quarter. God has placed us in the Winstanley, Kambala and York Road Estates, where we aim to serve our community, our nation and the wider world. Our aim is to be a witnessing Church by making known the Good News of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to all we come in contact with. We aim to be a praying and caring Church, through sharing and showing the love of Christ, by bearing one another’s burdens, by encouraging and building up each other in the love of God. Battersea Chapel seeks to be a lighthouse in the community, where people can find refuge, love, acceptance, hope and fellowship. We aim to be a Church that seeks to help those in need.
